I love Paris in the winter...

For Christmas, Sean and I got to go to Paris while Oma and Grandpa watched the kids in Konstanz!
It was like a honeymoon!
We went to the Musée d'Orsay...
Saw the Eiffel Tower...
Sat around in cafe's eating wine and cheese...
We walked right by certain restaurants...
But went inside Notre Dame.
...even though the art near the entrance was somewhat foreboading.
Then we went in the Louvre!
You can see almost anything in the Louvre, the biggest art museum in the world. We stayed until our minds felt like mush.
We required nourishment and chose large buckets of mussels with a white wine.
Our final sight was the Arc d' Triumph. We were triumphant, having enjoyed a whirl-wind tour of Paris! And, BTW, we did not experience a single unfriendly French person. Can't wait to go back one day!

Merry Christmas 2008

Marga beside Oma on the bus on the way to church on Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning! A general store from Beeba!
A light saber from Santa!
Oh no! TWO light sabers from Santa. Thanks, Santa. Thanks a lot!
A Bat-mobile from Uncle Mike!
Crocheted stars from the Christmas Market.
More presents! A constructor set from Beeba.
A storm trooper helmet!

A Fairy-princess costume from Uncle Mike!
Two sweet children.
Waiting for dinner playing Uno.
Still waiting for dinner, sword fighting.
Waiting for pie!
Pie!
William enjoys pie.
Merry Christmas, Everyone.

Oma and Grandpa are on their way! William has been counting down the days. Marga says," After one sleep Oma and Grandpa are gonna come home!"

Can't wait until you and Uncle Mike are here!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum

Wie treu sind deine Blaetter! Du gruenst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein, auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!
Wie treu sind deine Blaetter!

Morning commute, Konstanz style

I had an early OB appt. on Friday, so Sean took the kids to school. It had snowed! Here, Wm and Mg wait at the corner.
They walk to Wm's kindergarten.
Wm meets his friend Christopher and puts on his Hausschuhe.
On the way to Mg's school, they pass St. Georg Church.
Once Mg is at school, Sean turns toward the Uni. This is Mainaustrasse. He walks along it for two or three blocks.
Until he turns onto the path to the Uni. He passes a field.

A winter warning.
The path continues through the woods.
Another warning!
As the sun rises, the Uni emerges out of the fog.

Tired Children

I took Wm and Mg swimming this week and they expended so much energy there that they could barely eat dinner and change into PJ's before slumping on the couch to watch a Christmas show. This is what Wm looks like when he watches TV. It is also what Sean looks like when he watches TV, BTW. We are not sure Wm noticed that we were taking pictures, and we had to take about 20 to get one without red eyes!

Pictures from St. Nikolaus (Dec.6)

See previous Dec 6 blog posts if you need a review...but St. Nikolaus came to our house again this year! He left chocolates, nuts, oranges, apples...and some socks in the boots we left outside our door. Margaret and William were very excited. I know these aren't the best pictures, but some of our blog readers don't seem to be all that picky about quality...they just want more quantity! This is what the kids look like when they first wake up.
