Marga sings "I like to move it!" from the movie Madagascar.

Marga reads to Kian

The boys and dads were getting ready to leave - but the house was strangely quiet. Better go check on what Margaret and Kian are getting into....

...but they were being perfect angels, reading books together on the chair!

Kinderbowling!

Morschach, Switzerland

We went on a spontaneous trip to the mountains last week, thanks to the efforts of our friends!

There were some really nice views...
...but for some, nothing is better than a little puddle of mud ( with a mountain view).

Happy Easter!

The evening before Easter, we colored eggs.

Then, we woke up pretty early Easter morning - and there were Easter baskets! Is this Christmas? Are all the holidays blending together?

Cool! A magical bird!

What time is it, anyway?
Hey! The Easter bunny nibbled the carrot we left out for him!
Marga is really good at peeling the wrappers off chocolate.
We got a book for Easter and had to read it immediately, on the kitchen floor, before the coffee.I want a "orange" egg!
My leopard wants to eat an egg. I will peel it for him.

Sometimes They Sleep

No matter what happens during the day, or how long it takes them to fall asleep, one of our evening treats is to go peek at the sleeping "babies", tuck them in, and give them an extra kiss. No, they didn't wake up while I was in there taking flash photos at 10 pm!

Planting Flowers

This year I had a lot of "help" planting our spring flowers. William picked the flowers out all by himself - the daisy for Margaret, the orange pansy for Dr HF, the purple pansy for Herr Prof Dr HF, the red bellis for himself. In addition, we bought a lavender plant because they smell good and we still had room in the stroller. This morning, William, Timon, and Margaret "helped" me by putting the dirt in and around the pots and grinding it into the tile with their little shoes, planting the plants, placing them in the sun, and watering the entire balcony. I tried to keep the damage under control, but eventually had to get out the mop during naptime.
After the boys watered the balcony, Margaret wanted to water the plants. Smart girl!

She is a good little "helper". Did I mention I get a lot of "help" these days? You should have seen how the kitchen looked after Margaret "helped" me make corn bread later in the morning. Apparently, it is not obvious that the ingredients should go in the bowl. Or that the stirring spoon is not for waving around in the air wildly. The bread tasted good in the end!

Margaret waters her margarite.

Congratulations, Herr Prof Dr HF!

Monday evening we had a spontaneous "sushi and teriyaki chicken" party to celebrate Sean's most recent contribution to the social psychology literature! A piece of his dissertation - 8 plus years in the making - is finally "in press"! Way to go, Sean! Seven children and seven adults made a loud and lively gathering until we all got tired, started to cry, and had to go to bed. Party down, family HF!

Mg tries out Wm's Laufrad!

Bike Ride

We went on a bike ride this morning! Check out Oldwren's blog for the details!

We caught Wm and Mg being sweet for a moment in the bike trailer...
...and then she bit his finger!

Fun With Chopsticks!

One is never too young to learn how to eat with chopsticks in a fancy restaurant!

That one noodle that made it in my mouth sure was good!

Judo Class

William has a new passion: Judo! Here are photos from his second class. Yes, he only started last week, but he wants to go "every day for the rest of his life".
This week, Dada came to watch - and to take some decent pictures.
The reason William likes his Judo class is that it involves A LOT of running around. Running through spinning jump ropes! Running over wiggling ropes on the ground ( see video). Running in circles. Etc. We are worried that when William finally learns what Judo really is (actually not track and field in a Judogi) he might be disappointed!
But how could you be disappointed if you get to dangle from ropes hanging from the ceiling? Cool!

A few more pictures for the grandparents, etc.

The main reason I haven't been blogging lately is that we just haven't been taking very good pictures! When the children are healthy they move SO FAST in opposite directions and it is nearly impossible to get a good shot! Everytime we leave the house I forget the camera! But I know the grandparents are getting restless. Even when you don't say anything, I feel you getting more and more agitated as the days of no new blog posts add up! Here are the best of the bad pictures we have taken in the past week or so. I'll try harder in the next few days!

Margaret plays with her vetrinary hospital. Thank you, Beeba!
She also likes to play with lego airplanes!
Every once in a while, the children do stop moving. Here, William relaxes with a little TV on the couch ( because Sean and I needed a break!) and Margaret reads a magazine. They looked so civilized during this brief moment!
And yesterday, a package arrived in the mail! We waited until Dada was home to open it.
Inside was a million little Easter eggs! Thank you, Oma and Grandpa! The clothes you sent are cute as well!
Now we can train for Easter!
Sean wants to know why the Easter Bunny hides the presents when all the other guys - Santa Claus, St. Nikolaus, The Tooth Fairy, etc - put the goods in a convienent location where they are easily found. William wants to know why it isn't an Easter Chicken. Margaret wants to know if the egg she is holding is "orange". I want to know where these weirdos in my living room came from and why they are always demanding food. Speaking of demanding food, it's time for Margaret and I to go pick William up from Kindergarten!

More Photos from the Chickenpox Days

We had a few boring days inside when William had the chickenpox. Here are a few more pictures showing how we occupied ourselves.

William helped me make muffins.

Margaret helped, too. Here is a picture of her eating a big slab of smoked salmon. The kids have weird taste in food!
Here is the first picture of the beautiful muffins we made -
- but it showed how horrible the bottom of my oven looks.

So I took this picture so nobody could see the bottom of the oven. But you also can't see the muffins very well. The muffins are now gone. The oven looks the same.
William, hold up your balloon elephant and giraffe!

...A little closer together, please!
...oh, forget it! That's good enough.
